"The Little Foxes" by Lillian Hellman

Thoroughly enjoyable. A sound production. Hats off to Sherry Flett for her portrayal of Birdie Hubbard, a nervous southern lady, whose kindness and morality is in stark contrast to the horrible Hubbard siblings, Oscar, Ben and Regina. Laurie Paton, as Regina Giddens, is totally believable. A good solid performance. I recommend this to anyone. "The Little Foxes" reinforces how thorougly unattractive greedy people are. You leave wondering how the Hubbards could live with themselves and then realise, after exiting the theatre, that it was all fiction. They didn't really exist but, of course, they do. Set and lighting also commendable. My only slight whine is the southern accent that doesn't quite stay in place, particularly with Addie and Alexandra Giddens. But that's minor stuff and anyway it was only the 2nd performance of the season. If it's this good after only 2 performances then I feel confident that everyone will, at least like this production, and perhaps love it.

"An Inspector Calls"

"An Inspector Calls" by J.B. Priestley at the Festival Theatre. I just returned from a performance and YES, from start to enimatic end, it's classic Shaw Festival excellence. You'll leave with more questions than you arrived with. This is a must see. TWO THUMBS UP!
